1943: Domingo Salame Hidrovo started up Créditos Económicos, as a system to buy home appliances and diverse personal use products through credit. In those years, those types of goods were only sold by one-time payments.

The first store was located in a first story in a building on the corner of Aguirre and Pedro Carbo streets, in Guayaquil Ecuador. The first slogan used was “Ask us for credit, and buy at cash prices.”

1967: Domingo Salame Hidrovo built the first building designed especially for a department store in Ecuador, located on the corner of Luque and Escobedo streets in Ecuador.

1978: Administrative, expansion and modernization plans were initiated; computing systems and the human resources department were also established.

At this point in time, Creditos Economicos operated in Ecuador with a store in Guayaquil, and another one in Quito.

1990’s: Expansion plans get implemented, and new stores are opened nationally.

1997: Creditos Economicos The Gallery USA Inc., en Queens, New York, USA, American company, its inaugurated and takes on the agency of Creditos Economicos Ecuador, in order to service the Ecuadorian population residing in that city and its surroundings. Our clients can choose and pay for their articles in the showroom located in Queens, and Creditos Economicos delivers the products in Ecuador.

1998: Créditos Económicos becomes part of CRECOS Group.

2002: www.creditoseconomicos.com opens its cyber doors in order to give a better buying option to its clientele in Ecuador and abroad.

2003: Credicard is launched as the first credit card in Ecuador designed for the shopping of electrodomestics.

2004: Creditos Economicos is considered by the Ecuadorian population as their favorite place for shopping appliances and electronics, study made by independent consultant Datanalisis.
